Miva’s admission system is different from the traditional university calendar used by many Nigerian universities. Instead of waiting for one annual admission exercise, the university operates multiple admission intakes.
The university currently lists the following admission and class commencement schedule:
| Admission Intake | Application Period | Classes Commence |
|---|---|---|
| May 2026 | From February 2026 | May 2026 |

The January 2027 intake is therefore the next listed opportunity for prospective undergraduate students who want to begin their studies at Miva Open University. (Miva Open University)
Does Miva Open University Have a Traditional Academic Calendar?
Miva Open University uses a cohort-based and online learning structure. This means students should pay attention to the specific dates communicated for their admission cohort rather than assuming that the university follows exactly the same calendar as conventional Nigerian universities.
Miva explains that students receive information about upcoming school events and when classes commence. The university also provides online learning through its learning management system, with recorded materials and interactive virtual classes. (Miva Open University)
This structure makes Miva suitable for students who want to combine university education with work, business or other responsibilities.
